Mosiello then has to be reminded by THE JOURNAL NEWS that he is no longer chief,he must return his Village vehicle and Firearms. Mosiello returns village property(allegedly). Mosiello retains lawyer and pulls his RETIREMENT PAPERS. Mosiello never returns to work. The Village Board is made up of LAWYERS? COME ON. --- It is unfortunate that Mr. Davis comes into this mess at a time when so many truths have come out about the Board of Trustees of the Village or Pelham Manor, John Pierpont, Fire Chief Ruggiero, and the on again off again Chief of Police, Alfred Mosiello. Mr. Davis looks to have a descent background, which is possibly an understatement. He served in the FBI, and appears to run a successful investigative and security business. The issue he faces is that the public's trust has been breached by the actions of other village officials and appointees. The responsibility of appointing a new chief of police falls mostly on his shoulders, because of his background in law enforcement. I hate to be the cynic, but be careful Mr. Davis, the village needs a good fall guy. In a statement made by Mr. Schwarzfeld on Tuesday February 17, 2015, he stated, "it became apparent that the Chief had lost the support of the community. Accordingly, last Friday, the Board requested and received the Chief’s resignation." First, why, Mr. Schwazfeld, did it only dawn on you and the board that the chief of Police had in fact done something heinous, only when you realized the chief had lost the support of the community. Wasn't it apparent to you as an individual and alleged leader of the community that the chief's misconduct was outrageous enough to have warranted removal? A leader leads. When a community leader is operating with significantly more knowledge than the person on the street, it is their duty and responsibility to make decisions according to their convictions. So, if you believe that he actually retired, that means he took the village's property on vacation for two weeks before he allegedly retired, and now still has it at the end of the business week after his March 1 retirement date. Seems the Village Board of Pelham Manor has decided we need a board of Police Commissioners. Don't we have a board and a Police Commissioner? The Pelhams Plus article states this is in response to such racially biased incidents as the arrest and rights violation of an African-American man in early 2013, the retirement of the arresting officers in early 2014, and the board's knowledge of the dissemination of racist emails by the chief of police, information known to the board for since October 2014. So, here are my questions for the mayor and the board, WHY NOW? It is March 2015. Obviously, all these incidents are no big deal to you. You didn't charge the two officers, instead, you let them retire. Was that a good message to send to other employees? --- Personally, I've read a number of these blog posts and the reason I'm not riled up is because they're semi-incoherent, rambling, full of accusations and entirely devoid of true substance. I have yet to see anything substantial (off-the-cuff racist chain E-mails aren't great but it seems like the CoP is on his way out because of it so I'm not certain what the complaint is). It sounds like Pierpont is kind of an asshole (that's been my general impression from experience anyway) but, in my mind, that doesn't equate to corruption and is quite probably a job requirements. A supervisor, who I know to have been a close personal friend of the now defunct chief of police, recently advised me that Mosiello owns a second residence down in the Carolinas. --- Let me tell you about my own run-in with Pierpont and his construction bullying tactics. I was recently setting up a dog house in my back yard for my mutt because the house is too warm for him in the winter. I was happily working away in my back yard, getting the footing placed just right, when Pierpont came up and had to insert himself in the situation. He had the nerve to tell me that my dog house needed some insulation and that my mutt would freeze outside without it. I told him there was no way I was going to put asbestos in my dog house for insulation, my mutt has weak lungs and asthma as is! My mutt loves the cold! Anyway, I got my dog house all set up and my mutt was loving it. About a week later, after that recent cold spell, Pierpont came back to check on the dog house but the mutt was already inside.
